Privacy policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Zayzak Transport collects when you book or take a ride, sign in, or apply to drive with us; why we use it; who we share it with; how long we keep it; and your rights.
We collect only what we need to run safe, reliable rides. A booking can't be made without contact and journey details, because your chauffeur needs them to pick you up. Sharing your location is optional.

2. Information about passengers
When you book, have an account, or ride with us, we collect:
- Contact details: name, email address and mobile number of the passenger, and of the person booking if that's someone else. Saved guests if you add them to your account.
- Booking details: pickup and drop-off addresses, date and time, vehicle class, passengers and luggage, flight number, the name for a pickup sign, and any notes you add.
- Payment details: the amount, whether it was paid or refunded, and SumUp's reference for the payment. Your card details go straight to SumUp; we never see or store your card number.
- Saved card: if you choose to save a card on your account, SumUp keeps the card and gives us a reference to it (a token), which we store encrypted, with the card type and last 4 digits so you can see which card it is. We also keep when you agreed to save it. You can remove it from your account at any time.
- Tips: if you tip your chauffeur, the amount, when it was paid and SumUp's reference for it.
- Zayzak wallet: the points your account earns and uses, which rides they came from and when they expire.
- Business accounts: the business name and VAT number, and the client book the business keeps with us (each client's name, email, mobile, and the business's own category and notes). If a business saved you as a client, ask them or us to remove you.
- Chauffeur codes: if you book with a chauffeur's card code, which chauffeur's code you used. To apply the first-ride offer we check whether your email address or account already has a booking with us.
- Your location, only if you choose to share it on your ride page, so your chauffeur can find you. Your browser asks your permission first, and it's only shared while that page is open, from booking until pickup.
- Pickup spot details, only if you add them: a nearby landmark, what you're wearing and a photo of where you're standing (we ask you not to include faces), to help your chauffeur find you.
- Messages, ratings and reports: chat messages with your chauffeur, the rating and comment you leave, and anything you send us through Get help.
- Ride notifications: if you tap Notify me on your ride page, the notification address your browser gives us, so we can tell you when your chauffeur is on the way, arrives or messages you.
- Sign-in information: your email address, and your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google. We don't use passwords.
3. Information about chauffeurs and applicants
When you apply to drive with us or work with us as a chauffeur, we collect:
- Your name, contact details, date of birth, city and driving experience.
- Your licences and checks: driving licence (and DVLA check code), private hire driver licence, and an enhanced DBS certificate if you choose to upload one.
- Your vehicle: registration, make, model, year, private hire vehicle licence, insurance, MOT, logbook (V5C) and photos.
- A profile photo, checked and approved by our team before passengers see it when you accept their ride.
- The document permission letter you sign: the full name you type as your signature, when you signed it, and which version of the letter it was.
- Your Zayzak card: your card code, how many passengers booked with it, and the bonuses it earned. If you share your card link or QR code, anyone who opens it sees your first name, approved photo, rating, number of completed rides, car and vehicle class.
- Tips passengers give you, which are added to your earnings.
- Bank details for paying you (stored encrypted), and a bank statement to confirm the account is yours.
- Your location while you're online in the driver app, your rides, earnings, payouts, ratings and any reliability issues recorded against rides.
- If you turn on ride alerts: the notification address your phone's browser gives us (from Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft's notification service) and the type of phone and browser, so we can send you ride requests.
We use this to check you're licensed and suitable to carry passengers (as the law requires of private hire operators), to offer you rides, to pay you, and to keep passengers safe.
4. Why we use it, and our legal basis
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Take and manage bookings, arrange your chauffeur, process payments and refunds, send booking emails | Contract: we need it to provide the ride you booked |

| Check chauffeurs' licences, documents and suitability | Legal obligation, and contract with the chauffeur |
| Share your location with your chauffeur during a ride | Consent: you choose to share it, and can stop at any time |
| Take tips and pay all of them to the chauffeur | Contract: you ask us to pass the tip on |
| Run chauffeur cards and the first-ride offer (checking it's a first ride, paying the chauffeur's bonus) | Contract with the chauffeur, and legitimate interests: preventing the offer being misused |
| Handle help requests, complaints, lost property and safety reports | Legitimate interests: running a safe, reliable service |
| Protect the website from misuse (e.g. limiting repeated sign-in attempts) | Legitimate interests: security and fraud prevention |
6. International transfers
Some of our providers are based in, or use services in, the United States and other countries outside the UK. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it's protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US Data Bridge.
7. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Bookings, payments, tips and refunds | 6 years after the ride, for tax and licensing record-keeping |
| Chauffeur card codes and bonus records | While the chauffeur works with us; bonus payments are kept with the payment records |
| Saved card (SumUp's reference, card type, last 4 digits) | Until you remove it from your account, or close your account; removing it also cancels it at SumUp |
| Review request opt-outs (your email address) | For as long as we send review requests, so we don't ask you again |
| Location you share on your ride page | Deleted automatically after the ride (within 2 days at most) |
| Chauffeurs' last known location | Deleted automatically within 2 days of going offline |
| Pickup spot details you add (landmark, what you're wearing, photo of the spot) | Shown to your chauffeur only until you're on board; deleted automatically 24 hours after the ride |
| Ride alert (notification) addresses | Until you turn alerts off, or the phone stops accepting them |
| Passengers' ride notification addresses | Deleted automatically a day after the ride (3 days after pickup at most) |
| Chat messages, ratings and help requests | Kept with the booking record |
| Your account, saved guests and business client book | Until you delete your account (7 days after you confirm it, so you can change your mind), or the business removes the client |
| Record of ride texts sent (the last 4 digits of the number only) | 12 months |
| Zayzak wallet points history | Kept with your account; points themselves expire after 365 days |
| Sign-in codes | Expire after 10 minutes |
| Chauffeur documents and bank details | While you work with us, then as long as licensing and tax rules require |
| Applications and enquiries that don't go ahead | Deleted 12 months after they were last updated |
| Security counters (a one-way coded form of your IP address) | Deleted within a day or two |
8. Keeping it safe
The website only works over an encrypted connection. Chauffeurs' bank details are encrypted in our database, access to the admin area is limited to our team and every look at bank details or documents is logged, and card details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you,
- correct information that's wrong or incomplete,
- delete your information, unless we have to keep it (for example booking records we must keep by law),
- restrict or object to how we use it, or transfer it to you or another organisation in a usable format.
Where we rely on your consent, such as location sharing, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email support@zayzaktransport.com. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when how we use information changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
